Carmel Car Sales - Don't Get Ripped Off

I bought a LandRover Freelander from Carmel Car Sales in Dec of 2007. I also bought a warranty that covered most major auto repairs. We bought the vehicle as a Christmas present for our 17 year old son and we wanted to give it to him the next day. We were kind of in a rush and I asked the owner of Carmel Car Sales if we could bring the vehicle back after we had it checked out if there was a problem. The owner of Carmel Car Sales said no, once you buy it it is yours,I won't take it back. (This should have been my first clue what kind of a snake the owner of Carmel Car Sales is.) I know a little about cars and from my light inspection everything seemed ok, but just in case I purchased a warranty through Carmel Car Sales.

The next day we give the car to our son, excited he runs out to start it and it wouldn't start Later that day it finally started but it overheated. We tried to figure out what was causing the overheating because it appeared that the engine coolant was ok. Actually, the engine coolant was way low, about a gallon and a half!! When the engine coolant gets that low there is a problem. It could be a water pump, a valve, head gasket or a cracked/broken block. When we bought the Freelander the coolant looked ok because in the storage tank there was plenty of coolant, however when the car was driven enough to heat up that's when we were able to detect the low levels of coolant.

That was the beginning of the problems. Over the next year we spent well over $1000 in misc repairs and we still had the problem of over heating. Whenever the car would overheat I told my son to park the car because severe damage can be caused to the engine when it gets hot. It was a pain in the ass a my son hardly ever drove it.
As it turns out, the overheating problem(with Freelanders)is a well known and well documented engine defect. Just ask any Car dealer and they will tell you!

Normally I would concede that I bought a lemon and move on, but not this time. The owner of Carmel Car Sales clearly knew that the Freelander had a defective engine and sold it to me anyway. He was also aware that the car was having overheating problems when I bought it. He told me when we were on the lot looking at it that one of his family members or in-laws drove it a while. It is this kind of scumbag that pisses me off. I haven't even mentioned the broken windows(won't go up and down), heater not working, defrost doesn't work, water leaks inside the passenger side and on and on... I will just chalk those problems up as lemonesque, but I won't give up on the fact that it was common knowledge that the Freelander had known engine defects and this criminal sold it to me with that very knowledge. I thought to myself, maybe the owner of Carmel Car Sales is actually an honest person but is just incompetent and doesn't know/or care about the industry in which he operates.
Not a chance! It gets better! Remember the warranty I bought? Well, it turns out that I bought coverage (I have the Doc's) that would pay for repairs up to the value of the vehicle but when I contacted the Insurance company they told me that the plan I bought only covers 3k in repairs. I tell them that they are wrong, the documents that I have show the full coverage. So I called the Carmel Car Sales owner and told him about the problem. Get this! This criminal told me that the Insurance company wouldn't cover a Freelander under the plan that HE(The owner of Carmel Car Sales) had sold me.
By now, anyone reading this should be laughing. The owner of Carmel Car Sales dumps a vehicle on me that he knows is defective, than he sells me a warranty on it that excludes the defective vehicle I just bought!
I gave this clown 2 weeks to get it resolved with the insurance/warranty company and he told me that there was nothing he could do. When I threatened suit he had the balls to tell me to "bring it on". Well, it's on you sleazy criminal!! I would have let him buy the vehicle back, that is no longer on the table!! I am going to extract 25k to 50k from this criminal one way or the other, AND I'm going to do it in FULL PUBLIC VIEW via this web page and the 10 others soon to be online. Furthermore, each post will be submitted as a news release.
What I think he actually did with the warranty is sold me a plan, but then submitted to the insurance company a different inferior plan and stealing the difference in premium. We will find out for sure when we get to court, as my attorney will subpeona all of those records. If he scammed me on the warranty than he has scammed others as well(no criminal stops at one). We will find out for sure because there is no way to cover your tracks, what's done is done. I wonder what the jail time is for such an offense?

For obvious reasons I have not included all of the information regarding Carmel Car Sales and the owners' criminal activity, most of that will be saved for legal counsel.

"bring it on" LOL
